NEWSLETTER APRIL 2006
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The Annual General Meeting is scheduled for 27th April. As usual, election of officers will be conducted. Anyone interested in serving in any of the posts should contact the President at email@example.com. After the election, the meeting will be open for discussing topics of interest to members and how to make the Society more effective. A lot of effort goes into running the Society and the AGM is an important part of the life of the Society. Your active participation is, therefore, critical.
SPRING LUNCH: The Spring Lunch is scheduled for 12:30pm on 2nd May at the Nassau Yacht Club, East Bay Street. Tickets are on sale for $35.00. Please contact Mrs. Granger at 362-4600 for tickets. Please support this very important fundraising event.
JUNE MEETING: The June meeting is scheduled for 8th June at which Dr. John Burton of DePaul University, Chicago, will speak on nineteenth-century San Salvador. More details will be announced in the Newsletter. We do not have a regular meeting planned for May.
RETIREMENT: After many years of service to the Bahamas Historical Society, Mrs. Victoria Flowers has retired due to ill health. Mrs. Flowers kept the Museum in near spotless condition. We deeply appreciate her services and will miss her.
MEMBERSHIP DUES: Yes, believe it or not, it is time to once again renew your membership in the Bahamas Historical Society. Please note that, for the first time in almost 50 years, we are increasing membership dues. This subject was discussed at the 2005 Annual General Meeting. The Individual Active category has been increased to $25.00 and the Individual Contributing category has been increased to $35.00. The increase was made necessary by increased operational costs. We hope that our members would continue to support the Society. Please complete the downloadable form and return it to the Society. Renewing early saves the Society the cost for copying and mailing the renewal notices.
