NEWSLETTER January 2007

Happy New Year – We hope that you all had peaceful and enjoyable holidays, and we wish you all the best for 2007.

Last Meeting – Our Christmas meeting was very well attended indeed. We would like to thank Mr Jim Lawlor for his presentation, as well as Ms Beryl Strachan for organising the refreshments that followed.

Next Meeting – Our next meeting is scheduled for the beginning of February. We hope that this gives you enough time to fit it into your busy schedules. Here are the details:

Dr. John Knowles:
“Personal Recollections of the Pioneer Days at the College of the Bahamas.”

Dr Knowles was the founding principal of COB. As our college is preparing itself to attain university status – 2007 marks the original deadline for this milestone – we believe it is only fitting that we revisit the institution’s earliest days.

Thursday, February 1st, 2007, 6:00 pm
Bahamas Historical Society – Shirley Street / Elizabeth Avenue

The Bahamas Historical Society wishes to express its condolences to Dr Saunders for the passing of her husband, Winston Saunders, as well as to the Albury family for the passing of Joan Albury, a longtime member and supporter of the BHS.
